THE SUN NEVER
SETS ON OUR EFFORTS TO
TELL THE GOOD NEWS ABOUT THE SON! |
|
|
The Magnolia church of Christ believes very
strongly in trying to carry out the Great Commission whether
that be here in Magnolia or in other places. Jesus said in Mark
16: 15-16 "Go into a the world and preach the good news
to all creation. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved,
but whoever does not believe will be condemned."
|
To accomplish this task we spend a high percentage
of the congregation's budget on mission efforts. We thought you
might like to know where we are involved outside the Magnolia
area so you will be able to see that no matter what time of the
day there are brethren around the world spreading the Gospel
of Jesus because the family of God here at the Magnolia church
of Christ shares the financial blessings God has entrusted to
our stewardship.
|
We provide funds to print Bibles and Bible
literature in Eastern Europe that are sent into areas that were
a part of the Soviet Union as well as countries that were closed
for so many years to Christianity but now are open such as Albania,
Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Poland, Romania,
Slovakia and many others. We enclose addresses in the literature
we send out so that if anyone desires to set up a Bible study
they can contact willing Christians who are committed to simply
teaching the Bible and sharing the story of Jesus and how salvation
is found only through Him.
|
We also believe it is very important to help
train men in various areas of the world to preach and teach to
the people in their own country where there is a shortage of
workers to tell people about Jesus. One such area is in the western
part of Africa in the country of Benin which borders the western
boundary of Nigeria. Benin and several other countries in that
region are French speaking countries. A few years ago it was
realized that there were no preacher training schools for French
speaking men other than in Canada and with over 100 million French
speaking people in western Africa it was determined a school
should be established in that part of the world and the Magnolia
congregation has been helping in a significant way to make that
school possible.
|
Another place the Magnolia church of Christ
provides significant support is in India. In India we provide
funds for Bibles, bicycles, and preacher training. We also provide
funds to underwrite the cost of conducting Gospel meetings in
areas where the story of Jesus has not yet been taught. The people
of India are probably the most religious people on the earth
and Christianity has been growing rapidly. Each year tens of
thousands are baptized into Christ.
|
We also share in the same commitment of helping
men be trained to be preachers here in the U.S. and provide funding
for the Sunset International Bible Institute in Lubbock, Texas
where Americans are being taught how to preach and teach the
Gospel here in America where it is needed just as much as overseas.

Lastly we try to help with other good mission efforts that may
need some extra funds from time to time. This money comes from
the "Special Appeals" portion of the Missions budget
and is for one-time assistance to various missions efforts other
churches of Christ are sponsoring. The Missions Committee
considers each request and prioritizes the requests so we can
help as many good efforts as funds allow.
