BEHOLD THE SUN

"Truly the light is sweet, and a pleasant thing it is for the eyes to behold the sun." - (Ecc. 11:7).

Four aged golfers hit the links for their weekly round of golf. As the course began to take its toll enthusiasm for the game waned and complaints started to dominate the conversation. "These fairways are getting narrower and narrower," one said. "Yeah, and the greens are much smaller and the sand traps much larger," another carped. "But the worst of all is these hills; they've got to be steeper than they were last year," chimed in the third. The oldest and wisest of the four listened to this as long as he could, until finally exasperation got the better of him and he chided his fellow linksters by saying, "My friends, just be thankful we're still on this side of the grass!"

It's easy to find things in life to complain about, and when a negative attitude takes possession of us whining can become a way of life. Then our eyes can become blinded to the great blessings that abound in our lives. A quick look around will probably reveal that no matter how bleak things are for us, there are others who are worse off than we. Its easy to complain about having no shoes until you see a man who has no feet.

Yes, we ought to be thankful that we're still on this side of the grass. Life is sweet as the ancient sage reminds us and it's a marvelous blessing for our eyes to behold the sun of a new day. The psalmist gives us a positive way to approach each day. He said, "This is the day which Jehovah hath made; We will rejoice and be glad in it." - (Ps. 118:24). Life certainly has its pitfalls, and it wearies us from time to time; but with all its hardships life is good, and indeed, the light of each new day is sweet. THINK ABOUT IT!
