WORTH THINKING ABOUT

In Ecclesiastes Solomon wrote, "I have seen all the works that are done under the sun; and, behold, all is vanity and a striving after wind." - (Ecc. 1:14). If one reads this book, he may get the idea that Solomon was very pessimistic about life as a whole. The fact is, he was only negative about life lived apart from God. In this negative-positive book, though, there are some wonderful lessons about life. Solomon concluded by saying, "This is the end of the matter; all hath been heard: Fear God, and keep his commandments; for this is the whole duty of man." - (12:13).

The following sayings come to me via the internet. They are to some extent negative, but I think there are some lessons here we all can learn and benefit from, so see if something doesn't touch a cord with you.

"It is far more impressive when others discover your good qualities without your help."

"If you tell the truth you don't have to remember anything."

"If you drink, don't park. Accidents cause people."

"Some days you're the windshield; some days you're the bug."

"A closed mouth gathers no foot."

"Never mess up an apology with an excuse."

And my favorite, because I need it most, "Never miss a chance to shut up."
