TIME TO VOTE

In just a few short days we will be selecting a new president and vice president. This election may shape the things to come for many years given the fact that our new president will likely make several appointments to the Supreme Court. I urge you to get out and vote for the candidate that you think will best serve our great country. But before you vote read the following.

"In selecting men for office, let principle be your guide. Regard not the particular sect or denomination of the candidate - look to his character. It is alleged by men of loose principles or defective views of the subject, that religion and morality are not necessary or important qualifications for political stations. But the Scriptures teach a different doctrine. They direct that rulers should be men who rule in fear of God, able men, such as fear God, men of truth, hating covetousness. It is to the neglect of this rule...that we must ascribe the multiplied frauds, breaches of trust, peculations and embezzlements of public property which astonish even ourselves; which tarnish the character of our country and which disgrace government. When a citizen gives his vote to a man of known immorality, he abuses his civic responsibility; he sacrifices not only his own interest, but that of his neighbor; he betrays the interest of his own country." - Noah Webster, Letters to a Young Gentleman Commencing His Education.

Remember, my fellow Americans, if we elect good men we will have good government. The Bible says, "When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; but when a wicked man rules, the people groan." - (Pro. 29:2). Let us also keep this in mind: "Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people." - (Pro. 14:34). This latter principle applies to America as well as it does to any human government. Let us not forget that.
