ANOTHER YEAR GONE

Well, it's difficult to believe that the year 2000 is just about past history. It seems like only a little while ago we were ushering in this new millennium, and, wow, here we are saying goodbye to its first twelve months. Remember, how the Y2K scare had a lot of us nervous and fretting about the great computer crash and all the catastrophic effect that would have all over the world? Well, it didn't happen, did it? So many of our fears are self-imposed and unnecessary, aren't they? Anyway, it's been a great year for us, and we hope it's worked out in that same way for you, too.

I want to take this opportunity to thank all of our readers. There were a lot of complimentary things said about our weekly column, "Think About It." Many of you have been very gracious in your words and consistent in your reading of our comments, and I want you to know that you are really appreciated. I hope the column has provided some humor, a little lift to your day; but I also hope that it has done what we intend for it to do, i.e., to make all of us stop and think about some things that are very serious. If we accomplished those ends, then, we are happy and can say that our efforts weren't altogether wasted.

The staff of the Potpourri Newspaper, as usual, has done its outstanding work in helping us put this thing together each week. They are deserving of a lot of credit for making the column what it is. My thanks to all of you there, especially Lou, who works with me directly every week to see that errors are avoided and the article has an appealing look each week.

All of us at the Magnolia church of Christ want to wish you and your family the very best of new years. We pray that 2001 will be the most prosperous year, physically and spiritually, that any of us have ever had. God bless; keep on reading; and we'll keep on writing.
